World Cup start: New head sponsor and rocky preparation

The World Cup season starts tomorrow, Saturday, in Mairiporã, Brazil. I am particularly pleased that I will be at the start linewith TimeTool AG as my new head sponsor. Even though the preparations over the last few weeks have not been ideal, I am looking forward to the first World Cup races of the season with confidence.

To achieve great success, you need strong partners at your side. My new head and helmet sponsor, TimeTool AG, creates fresh, smart and innovative time management software solutions for everything from small companies to large international corporations – and has been doing so reliably since 1993. TimeTool loves innovation and challenges and has set itself the goal of packaging complexity into simple and intuitive solutions. As a professional mountain biker, TimeTool’s way of working and approach are a perfect match for me.

Because even for me as an athlete, the pursuit of goals and their implementation is sometimes complex. This has also been the case in recent weeks. About a month ago, when I wanted to take part in my first race at the Swiss Bike Cup in Gränichen, I was stopped in my tracks by stomach problems and a high temperature.

Slowed down twice

Nevertheless, a few days later I went to Portugal for a road race. When I got home, I was hit again with a bad cold, which put me out of action for about a week. But the last ten days have given me confidence.

I had changed my original plan and traveled to Brazil earlier than my team Thömus maxon. Last Sunday, I took part in my first MTB race of the season on the World Cup course in Mairiporã. I was happy with third place. It was the right decision and I was able to gain important experience on this fast course. Of course I wasn’t and still am not at 100 percent. But it’s all about getting the best out of my current form and doing everything perfectly.

High importance of the World Cup start

The importance of the World Cup start is very high this year. But I know that I can handle pressure very well and can therefore deliver my best performance. The realization that the path to a goal can sometimes be rocky is nothing new. So let’s tackle it!

Keep your fingers crossed for me, Math

Side note: The Short Track will take place on Saturday this season, if there are no DH World Cups on the same weekend.
