Breakthrough in Val di Sole and surgery

About ten days ago in Val di Sole (Ita) I was able to take a very important step for me personally. Second place in the cross-country race felt like a victory. Just two days later, the torn ligament in my left thumb could be operated on as planned.

Finally I could push myself to the absolute limit again. However, the XCO race in Val di Sole started anything but perfectly. Despite a good starting position on the front row, I was not able to establish myself at the top at the beginning and had to “plow” my way forward through a large part of the field. It was important that I kept my nerves in check and concentrated only on the next overtaking maneuver. It felt extremely good and ultimately brought me up to second place.

Surgery went well and according to plan
As planned, I was able to have my torn ligament in my left thumb operated on two days later. Everything went according to plan and after a few days rest I was already back on the bike. It still needs time, but from day to day it’s going better. The goal is clear and the timetable is also right; the next few weeks are all about preparing for the World Championships in Glasgow on Saturday, August 12.
