The winter months and the start of 2026 were defined by intensive training, but also by precious time spent with my family. Now, the racing carousel is spinning once again.
Balancing the focus of a professional athlete with the role of being a dad is a new challenge, but it also gives me an enormous sense of composure and extra motivation. I’ve been able to take that energy into every training session – and the feeling on the bike was great right from the start.
The breakthrough: First victory of the season at Monte Tamaro
After a solid first outing to kick off the racing season, the second race was on the agenda last weekend: the opening of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup at the Tamaro Trophy. The technically demanding course at Monte Ceneri always takes everything out of you, but that’s exactly what I love.
Securing my first win in only the second race of the season is a fantastic feeling. I was able to lead from the front throughout and could feel that my form is heading exactly in the right direction. It’s a great confirmation of the hard work over recent months and the support from my team, Thömus maxon.
What’s next?
From now on, the races will be coming thick and fast. A first major highlight will certainly be the World Cup opener in South Korea. However, the European Championships in Ticino and the World Championships in Italy are also right at the top of my priority list for this season.
See you soon, Math
